Parkhurst Opticians was established over 25 years ago, by Alan and Irene Parkhurst. Since the business was formed Parkhurst Opticians has expanded and now boasts 5 branches. They are located in Thorne, Goldthorpe, Sheffield, Bentley, and Doncaster Town Centre.

Since Parkhurst Opticians was established, Alan and Irene have always adopted a hands on approach to the running and development of the company, preferring to remain a specialised family run Opticans. To date even though the day to day formalities take care of themselves Alan Parkhurst still remains very much in control.

Alan also takes a very keen interest in the wider aspects of the Optical profession. In the year 2000 he was elected President of the Association of Dispensing Opticians, a post he served for 2 years. This was a very demanding role, but one I am sure he will tell you, one that was also very rewarding. Alan Parkhurst is a Dispensing and Contact Lens Optician, with interests in low vision.

Parkhurst Opticians is truly a family run business, during the expansion of the company extra help was drafted in and additional professional expertise was needed. Who else would be better qualified than two sons and a daughter.

Ian Parkhurst joined the business after completing his Optics training at Bradford College. He has since undertaken various extra optical diplomas, Low Vision, Delegated Functions, Contact lenses.

Neil Parkhurst was the next son to join the family. After qualifying as a quantity surveyor, Neil took a career turn and joined the family. He completed his training whilst working for Parkhurst Opticians. Neil has also undertaken various additional optical diplomas, Low Vision, and Contact Lenses.

Emma Parkhurst was the next member of the family to begin working for Parkhurst Opticians. Emma worked as an optician for a large multiple before joining the family team. Since working for the family Emma has married and also undertaken a contact lens diploma. She also works as the Yorkshire Area Secretary for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, mainly arranging local CET events for opticians
